A 36-year-old man was arrested by the Lisbon PSP for allegedly assaulting his 26-year-old companion and his grandparents, aged 76 and 79, announced Saturday the Lisbon Metropolitan Command.
On Thursday, elements of the police were called to the house of the aggressor and the victims, in the Lisbon neighborhood of Penha de França, because there were “calls for help, screams from a woman and noise from broken objects”, says the Metropolitan Command of Lisbon in a statement sent to Lusa.
The agents arrested the man who assaulted his 26-year-old girlfriend in a fragrant crime.
“In order to safeguard human life, and since the suspect did not open the door of his own free will, there was a need to break it down, his arrest being consummated”, adds the PSP.
In addition to assaulting his partner, the PSP says there are “strong suspicions, of the practice of the crime of domestic violence, of the detainee towards his grandparents, aged 76 and 79”.
At the time of the arrest, the suspect was wearing an electronic bracelet, as a coercion measure for other offenses, and was present to the Lisbon District Judicial Court, which applied the preventive detention measure.
The Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the Public Security Police also announced the arrest of another 51-year-old man, on suspicion of the practice of several crimes of forgery and fraud.
The detention took place following a found wallet, which was handed over to a police officer from the PSP of Esquadra da Damaia, having been found to have several cards, with different identities.
The citizen was present at the Judicial Court of the District of Lisboa Oeste, and is now subject to a Term of Identity and Residence.
