What is Morse Code?

Who was Samuel Morse?
Samuel Morse was a great American engineer, famous all over the world for creating the electromagnetic telegraph and for this he received support from his colleague Alfred Vail. In 1843 he was able to patent his invention and thanks to this he became very rich and gained international fame.
Over the years, Samuel Morse gave part of his earnings to charitable works and funding cultural works. Today it is still evident, as it is a system used by amateur radio operators.
The first message in Morse code was sent by the inventor Samuel Morse himself on May 24, 1844. It was considered a historic moment for humanity, because information could be transmitted over long distances in a second or so. It was a short quote from the Bible and it is remembered to this day.
How does morse code work?
Each letter, number, or punctuation mark is represented by a unique series of dots and dashes. Dots are represented by a short stroke or short signal, and stripes are represented by a long stroke or long signal. The combination of dots and dashes for each letter is designed so that the most common letters in the English language have shorter codes, while the less common letters have longer codes.
To represent a complete word, letters are separated by one space and words are separated by two or three spaces, depending on the transmission speed.
