Actor George Segal (87) is dead

It is his own wife, Sonia Segal, who confirms the death in a statement.

– The family is devastated to announce that George Segal passed away this morning as a result of complications during a bypass operation , it is stated in the statement, according to CNN.

Segal grew up in Long Island, New York and became early known for his Oscar-nominated role in the film “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” from 1966. His acting career spanned six decades and he played Albert Pops Solomon in the TV series «The Goldbergs» from 2013 until his death.

– I will miss his warmth, humor, camaraderie and friendship. He was a wonderful man, says his agent Abe Hoch in the statement.
