Activities for Breast Cancer Awareness Month will take place on Friday 28th

During the month of October, the Ministry of Health promoted various awareness actions on this type of cancer, which is one of the most frequent. This Friday there will be a day, from 10:00 to 16:00 in the Parque de las Naciones, with Papanicolaou and HPV tests, shift management, rapid HIV tests, advice on healthy habits, advice, yoga classes, walks and Zumba, jointly organized by the health teams and the Provincial Parks Program of the Ministry of Tourism.

This Friday, October 28th, a Community Awareness Day on Breast Cancer Control will be held in the city of San Luis, punctually in the Parque de las Naciones from 10:00 to 16:00.

There will be a health trailer coordinated by the Cervical Cancer Prevention Program and Breast Cancer Control Program team with Pap smears and HPV tests, aimed at people over the age of 25. In addition, scheduled shifts for mammography will be managed for people over the age of 40.

Professionals employed by the HIV-ITS-HEPATITE VIRAL service will carry out rapid HIV tests. Also from the Health Promotion and Prevention Sub-program there will be advice on healthy habits.

Likewise, from the San Luis Comprehensive Cancer Center, advice and information on breast cancer control and treatment and a yoga class will be provided.

The closure will take place from 15:00 to 16:00 and will be borne by the Physical Education teachers of the Provincial Parks Program, of the Ministry of Tourism, who have organized a walk and a Zumba lesson.

Breast cancer is a disease caused by the abnormal multiplication of breast cells that form a malignant tumor. Early diagnosis is done through mammography, which is done from the age of 40, the chances of having this disease increase with age. If detected early, it is highly treatable.

Mammography is a quick, painless and effective study for early diagnosis. The public health system has mammograms at the San Luis Hospital and the “Ramón Carrillo” Hospital in the capital; at the “Juan Domingo Perón” Hospital, in Villa Mercedes; at the “Madre Catalina Rodríguez” hospital in Merlo. You can consult and ask for advice at the CAPS closest to your home.

Some of the protective habits are to hydrate well; consume fruits and vegetables and cut down on industrialized foods; avoid a sedentary lifestyle / increase physical activity; reduce the consumption of alcohol and tobacco, among others.

Warning signs include palpable lumps in the breast or armpit, changes in the nipple, breast skin or areola (redness, cracking or other changes in the skin, changes in the size, shape or appearance of the breast, changes in nipple discharge
