November 25th is the annual international day against violence against women and girls. The state capital Düsseldorf and Fortuna Düsseldorf took this as an opportunity to initiate an action game day and thus set an example against violence and against discrimination against women and girls. At the home game on Friday, November 26th, against Heidenheim, various campaigns made people aware of the issue.

Lord Mayor Dr. Stephan Keller: “Together with various actors in the city, we already carried out various campaigns on November 25th to draw attention to the topic: The action flags of the nationwide helpline for ‘violence against women’, for example, were hoisted at the town hall and many different ones Buildings in the city were shrouded in orange light in the evening. With today’s action game day, together with Fortuna, we are once again sending a clear signal against violence against women and girls and calling for active action against violence and discrimination. “

As part of the action game day, information was displayed that draws attention to the offer of the nationwide helpline. An article in the stadium newspaper was also devoted to the topic. In addition, a photo campaign was initiated: Together with Mayor Dr. Stephan Keller and the equal opportunities officer Elisabeth Wilfart jointly acknowledge the players and those in charge of Fortuna Düsseldorf “No violence against women and girls”. The posters were displayed in the arena on match day and were published on social media. Representing the whole club, the following fortunes can be seen during the photo campaign: Supervisory board member Martina Voss-Tecklenburg, team captain Adam Bodzek, Fortuna player Kristoffer Peterson and club legend Axel Bellinghausen.

In addition, the words “We against violence” on an orange background appeared on an LED screen at the arena. As part of the UN campaign “Orange the Word”, the color symbolizes a future without violence against women. Düsseldorf Tourismus GmbH also supported the action game day and equipped the turning loop at the arena with the flags from the helpline.
