A record happened in United States of America when 4.4 million people quit their jobs in September 2021. This phenomenon is due to the abundance of job opportunities there.
Workers are called quitting in search of a better salary or job. The number of employees resigning in the US reaches more than 4 million in a month.
“Labor now has the initiative, and the era of paying individuals less than living wages is over. This strongly suggests wage increases will become an integral part of the economic landscape going forward,” said Joseph Brusuelas, chief economist at RSM US, citing CNN, Saturday (13/11).
The country had 10.4 million open jobs in September 2021 as the labor shortage crisis continues, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
That’s down from 10.6 million open jobs available in August.
The increased employment is more for the health care sector and government.
Employment in the leisure and hospitality industry is the cause of the decline in job openings between August to September 2021.
“The pace of people quitting in the labor market is incredible,” Bunker said.
Resignations are most common where most of the work is done directly or at relatively low wages.
Entertainment Industry Jobs Increase
The arts, entertainment and recreation sectors saw the biggest increase, followed by other services and state to local government education.
The number of job vacancies in America does not close the premise that the financial problems of workers in the country are still ongoing.
During the pandemic, millions of workers have been out of work. For some, they have home care responsibilities that prevent them from returning to work, while for others the risk of contracting the virus is too high.
These factors are also the main reason and greatly affect women. In October 2021 the number of women out of work was almost 3 million or much higher than before Covid-19.
But if all these women return to work, America still has additional jobs to fill.
