ABC News Anchors Witness Spectacular Eclipse Across America in Burlington

The impressive natural phenomenon is captured from different points of view.

For example, journalists from the US media ABC saw live how everything darkened for a moment when the Moon stood in front of the Sun.

It has been reported that the phenomenon itself lasts for two hours. On the North American continent, the eclipse began shortly at 14.00 local time (21.00 Latvian time) and ends around 15.46 local time (22.46 Latvian time).

The total solar eclipse was first clearly seen by residents of the Mexican city of Mazatlan. It then moved across Texas, southern Oklahoma, Missouri, Ohio, and along the US-Canada border.

The eclipse will end in the province of Newfoundland in Canada.

Solar eclipses are not rare phenomena – two or even four are seen around the world a year. However, the chance to see a total solar eclipse is rarer because the Earth is large and mostly covered by oceans.

This solar eclipse is the first this century to be visible in all three North American countries – the United States, Mexico and Canada – and therefore will likely be the only one most of the world’s population will see in their lifetime.
