Wölflis farewell tour and a dribbling for the grandstand
Marco Wölfli spent a long time in the stands with family and friends after the game. The retiring YB goalie is enjoying every moment to the fullest. In 1999, the almost 38-year-old made his debut in the first team. He will resign at the end of the 2019/20 season. The keeper, who has long had cult status, once guarded the YB goal in this championship. 45 minutes on November 10 against St. Gallen (4: 3). Until Sunday. Because David von Ballmoos has to pass against FC Luzern because of neck pain, Wölfli has another 90 minutes – again against Luzern.
–
In spring 2018, he replaced the injured Von Ballmoos. In the decisive game against the FCL, he held a penalty and led YB to the first championship title in 32 years. When asked about the memories of 2018 before the game, he said: “It could have been my last game in my career. I was just happy to be on the pitch because it was an extremely important game for us. »

He didn’t have much work that Sunday afternoon. This is how he deals with himself: In the 59th minute he dribbles in his own penalty area and dances Lucerne’s Margiotta. “There were still colleagues in the stands and I thought I had to show that I’m still fast,” says Wölfli of the scene. Still laughing, he leaves the interior of the stadium. And who knows, maybe he will get a few more minutes of play – before he finally takes off his gloves.

Nsame and the hunt for a record
In the 20th minute he hits the crossbar. Then FCL keeper Marius Müller reflexively fends off a header. The next attempt passes the goal just centimeters. YB awards opportunities over opportunities, including goalkeeper Jean-Pierre Nsame. Until the 72nd minute. Then the YB striker is forgotten in the penalty area, converted to 1: 0 and brings the TV commentators on the Wankdorf grandstand to a collective cheer. It is the 30th goal in the 30 game of the YB striker. In doing so, he equalized Seydou Doumbia’s best record from the 2009/10 season.
–
“I’m glad. My 30th goal secured us victory. Now we finally don’t have to talk about it anymore, “says Nsame, who has been asked about the record for weeks.” I hope that in the next few days we will be able to concentrate on the performance of the whole team and on this title that we will win want.”

Thanks to the win and the better goal difference (+36) against St. Gallen (+19), YB needs one point from the remaining two games. The next is on Friday in the tourbillon. “We will prepare the game against Sion well to get this missing point,” said Nsame. Then the title hat trick would be done. But there can be no question of normality. Not for him.
–
«The seasons follow one another, but they are never the same. The current year has been a difficult one, but we have concentrated and continued to work. We fought for each other and suffered together. If we really should win the title, it is the reward for working hard for it. »

Seoane: hospital instead of training ground
Before the game, it was announced that YB coach Gerry Seoane became a father on Saturday. His partner gave the YB trainer a son named Morris. The former FCL professional has a daughter and a son from his first marriage. “It was a wonderful experience and personally gave me even more energy for the game,” says Seoane.

The preparation was a bit different for him than the games before. The training the day after the Neuchâtel game was canceled, he relied on his staff, because YB had a good breadth and quality not only in the squad but also in the coaching staff. “Everyone is healthy and happy,” says Seoane on Sunday. It seems that things are going well at YB right now – on and off the pitch.
