Richarlison is among the three finalists for the award Puskas 2023. The Brazilian national team striker will compete for the trophy for the most beautiful goal of last season with the move he played in Brazil’s debut in the World Cup in Qatar, against Serbia. He will compete against France’s Payet and Poland’s Marcin Oleksy, who has an amputated leg (see below the goals).

FIFA had released an initial list of 11 competitors in January, and bids were submitted to a popular election on the entity’s website. The three most voted were announced this Friday, and the big winner will be revealed at The Best award ceremony, scheduled for the 27th, in Paris.
– It was a very beautiful goal. I had already done one of these for Fluminense and another similar one for Everton. I had the chance to score a scissor goal again and I think it was one of the most beautiful goals of my career, because it was in the World Cup and in a difficult game for us – recalled Richarlison about the move.

Polish amputee player Oleksy combined exceptional athleticism, imagination and scoring ability with a sensational volley for Warta Poznan against Stal Rzeszow in June last year (watch below).
– My teammate made the pass. When I saw him approaching the ball, I knew it was coming for me. I hit it really well. It was pure instinct. I always wanted to score a beautiful goal – said Olesky, who represented Poland at the 2022 Amputee World Cup. He helped the team reach the round of 16, where they were beaten 2-1 by Brazil
The other finalist for the most beautiful goal award was French Payet, from Olympique de Marseille, who scored his painting in the quarterfinals of the Conference League against PAOK.
