A suspect in the murder of a seven-year-old girl was detained in the Kherson region – prosecutor’s office

The alleged killer of seven-year-old Maria Borisova, whose body was found on March 11 in the Kherson region, is a 52-year-old man, said Yulia Usenko, head of the department in the Office of the Prosecutor General.

“Thanks to the coordinated actions of the police and juvenile prosecutors of the Kherson region, the suspect was identified hot on the trail – two days after the discovery of the child’s body,” she wrote.

The representative of the Office of the Prosecutor General said that the suspect is 52 years old, on March 14 he was taken into custody.

“They were looking for the child for four days. All this time, after the horrible murder, the man hid the body and then took it to the place where the search had already taken place,” Usenko said.



Maria Borisova disappeared on the evening of March 7, her search continued until March 11, when in an unfinished barn in one of the households found the girl’s body… The police suggested that she was strangled and raped.

The criminal proceedings, which were initially opened on the fact of the child’s disappearance, were later re-qualified to clause 2, part 2 of Art. 115 (premeditated murder of a young child) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
