CHENNAI ∙ In Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu, three people, including two toddlers, were set on fire by a relative after a family quarrel. The assailant also set himself on fire and died. Tamilarasi, her eight-month-old baby Hasini, Tamilarasi’s sister Dhanalakshmi’s four-month-old baby, and Dhanalakshmi’s husband Sarguru were killed. It was Sarguru who set the others on fire.
Dhanalakshmi, who was seriously injured, is being treated in the intensive care unit of the government hospital. The tragic incident took place on the street of Chellanguppam Velli Pillaiyar Kovil in Cuddalore. Prakash – Tamil couple lived here. Hasini is their only daughter. After quarreling with Sarguru, Dhanalakshmi moved to her sister Tamilarasi’s house with her four children. After this Sarguru came here and quarreled with his wife.

As the problem worsened, Sarguru, enraged, poured the petrol he kept in his hand on the bodies of Dhanalakshmi and the baby. The bodies of the Tamil woman and the baby who tried to stop this were doused with petrol and burnt. Both the babies and the mother died instantly. Later, Sarguru set himself on fire and committed suicide. Dhanalakshmi, who was seriously burnt, was shifted to the hospital by the locals.
