A New Chapter in the Munarman Case That Followed Rizieq Shihab

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Alleged crime terrorism who ensnared the former General Secretary of FPI Munarman enter a new phase. The Special Detachment (Densus) 88 Anti-terror Police asked the prosecutor to examine the former FPI leader, Rizieq Shihab for questioning in this case.

The Head of the Public Information Section (Kabagpenum) of the National Police Kombes Ahmad Ramadhan said this needed to be done after the prosecutor asked the police to complete the Munarman case file.

The prosecutor previously returned Munarman’s file to investigators because it was declared incomplete or P19 last month.

“The task of the investigator is to fulfill the P19, especially material evidence, including the examination of witnesses. An additional one is the examination of one HRS brother,” said Ahmad, Monday (12/7).

Besides Rizieq, Ahmad said two other witnesses who needed to be questioned were former FPI chairman Shabri Lubis and Haris Ubaidillah.

Ahmad explained that investigators had handed over the dossier of the Munarman case I phase I to the prosecutors since June 7, 2021. Then, Densus 88 received the return of the file (P19) on June 24, 2021.

“Of course, after examining the witnesses on the instructions of the Public Prosecutor, the investigators will return the file,” he said.

Separately, Rizieq Shihab’s lawyer Novel Bamukmin questioned the prosecutor’s and police’s plans to ask his client for information in the case that ensnared Munarman.

He claimed that Rizieq had no connection or connection with terrorism cases so far.

“We really question. What’s the connection? Nothing to do. There’s no correlation. I memorized it really. Before there was FPI loh I join. We and the anti-habib are like the terrorists,” Novel said last night.

Munarman was arrested by the National Police Anti-terror Detachment 88 at his home in the Pamulang area, South Tangerang on Tuesday (27/4). Munarman was arrested for allegedly committing acts of terrorism.

Police suspect Munarman was involved in a number of terrorist plots in Indonesia. Munarman is alleged to have taken allegiance in several cities, such as Makassar, Jakarta and Medan. Munarman has been in prison since May 7, 2021.
