The facts unfolded in the United States, when all passengers on a plane were forced to get off because a two-year-old girl did not want to wear her mask.
The airline JetBlue recently changed its policy and now requires all passengers to wear the mask, including children aged two and over. This new rule would, according to the airline, comply with the guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The scene was filmed and shows the child’s mother, one Chaya Bruck, from Brooklyn, negotiating with the crew about the mandatory mask for her two-year-old daughter, who is not stopped removing it. Chaya was to make the connection between Orlando and Newark this Wednesday, August 19 when she was subject to this mishap with her little girl.
An argument broke out between Chaya and the flight attendant, who suggested that even at two years old, one should set an example and wear his mask. “I said I could try putting it on, but she took it off every time,” the mom told NBC New York. “A few minutes later, they came to see me and told me that I had to gather my things and get off the plane,” testifies Chaya, who refused to get off, as several passengers pleaded with the members of the crew to let her take her flight. But the flight attendants were determined to enforce their rules, as the plane’s loudspeakers then urged all passengers to get off the plane.
Chaya felt very bad after that. “They were horribly mean. My children were crying, it was really traumatic, ”said the mother of the family. “I asked the hostess, ‘Should I tie her hands and feet so that she doesn’t take off her mask? What do you want me to do ?’ They just wanted me to get off the plane, ”Chaya continued. Following this incident, her husband said he was going to file a complaint against JetBlue. The company responded that its policy was updated on August 10. “This was done to ensure that everyone wears a face mask, adults and children, to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Children two years of age and older should wear a mouth mask, per CDC guidelines, ”JetBlue responded.
