The accident is described as a meeting accident and happened on the country road all the way south on Karmøy.
The police do not yet know what led to the accident, or whether there were witnesses to it.
– There were two cars involved, with one person in each car. A man in his 50s was confirmed dead on the spot, and a man in his 40s was flown to hospital, says operations manager Kurt Løklingholm in the Southwest police district to NTB.

Forensic scientists and the Norwegian Public Roads Administration’s accident group are on their way to the site to conduct investigations.
The man who was flown to hospital was trapped after the accident, and released by the fire brigade before he was flown to hospital.
The police reported the accident at 15.45.
