A high cholesterol warning sign

November 6, 2022 9:37 am

Physical activity can trigger the first obvious sign of high cholesterol.

High cholesterol is known as the silent killer and is a harbinger of serious health problems like heart disease without many warning signs. Once there is too much cholesterol in the blood, it begins to build up in the arteries. One of the warning signs of this process can sometimes affect the legs.

The Cleveland Clinic explains that the “first” symptom of PAD could be leg cramps.

Spasms describe a sudden involuntary muscle contraction or jerky movement.

Leg cramps can feel like a tense, uncomfortable, and sore muscle.

In addition to leg cramps, peripheral arterial disease can also present with leg pain, known as intermittent claudication.

This type of leg pain can be recognized by these warning signs:

It develops with activity.

– Go with rest.

– Come back when you resume activity.

Intermittent claudication can also lead to numbness, weakness, heaviness, or fatigue in the legs.

However, this pain is not limited to this area as it can also go all the way to the buttock.

“You may notice pain in your calf, but you may also feel it in your buttocks or thighs,” says the Cleveland Clinic. “The pain can be severe enough to limit your ability to participate in activities you enjoy, such as golfing or chasing grandchildren.” according to RT

PAD can also cause other warning signs, including:

Burning or pain in the feet and toes while resting, especially at night while lying down.

Cool the skin on your feet.

Redness or change in the color of your skin.

More frequent infection.

Toe sores that don’t heal.

However, PAD doesn’t always cause many obvious symptoms, making it difficult to detect, such as high cholesterol.

Due to this silent nature, the most reliable way to determine cholesterol levels is with a blood test.
