A former rescuer shook Bulgaria with words about the tragedy in Kiten

The tragedy with the drowned child in Kiten shook the whole country a few days ago. Different versions of the incident were spread in the media, Glas News bg writes.

Former rescuer Lyudmila Hristova spoke about the different point of view – the difficult one, not that of an eyewitness, but that of a savior. She criticizes the “expert” opinions of users on the network, without being from the other side.

“The last few days have written a lot about the tragedy with the drowned girl in Kiten … I thought not to comment, but I can’t … I read the thousands of comments under carelessly written posts that have the sole purpose of generating traffic on the back of a tragedy and not I believe my eyes … Some blame the rescuers …

Do you know how to get into a stormy sea and dead excitement to get a drowning person out? Do you know how it feels to wonder if you will go out on your own, especially when you are alone and there are more drowning people, and how to choose who to start with, realizing that it may be too late for others to return?

Do you know what it feels like to fight for a breath while someone pushes you underwater in a panic and you fight not only against the sea, but also against your own and other people’s fears?

Do you know what it’s like to hear your ribs crack from kicks, but not give up because you know you might be this man’s only chance?

Do you know how you run after you’ve done your job, but when you come home you see 30 children from a student camp drowning and how you enter the sea without a breath of air?

And how do you make a living chain of random people in the shallows because there are so many children and we are so few and you don’t have time to get them ashore because you have to go back for the others? Because I know … I understood it for five years …

You will say “they are paid for that” … Well, no … They are paid for marking the flag on the beach; to judge the sea so that it is comparable to it; to be there in case of need and, of course, to ensure the safety of beachgoers.

However, they are not obliged to enter the red flag, because the beachgoers are responsible for their own lives. And yet they do it … And, believe me, it’s not about the money … You’ll say “the flag was yellow” – yes, but no.

Yellow was in the protected area, the unguarded one does not know what it was, because each part of each beach has its own specifics.

Even I, who am a swimmer and have learned from the best, know that you have to have respect and fear for the sea. And don’t play with it, because it usually wins.

And when we win the game, it is the rescuers (whether those assigned or those by vocation, as in this case) who make the difference. Yes, there are people who are not for this profession … But they quickly fall off right after the first time they have to do just that …

Some accuse him of not entering with a jet … And do you know how to search with a jet in a stormy sea?

Or how to pass 3-meter waves with a jet? Or how do you wonder which wave will break on you to make you more likely to stay on the jet? Because I know …. But, of course, it’s easier to “understand” while watching videos on the net.

Some blame the parents … Without realizing that they are certainly blaming themselves the most … But do you know how the face of a parent who has seen the sea swallow his child changes?

Do you know how a mother who can’t swim stops following her child so that she too dies? Do you know how it feels to tell a parent that there is no point in continuing to breathe on her child because the end has come? Do you know what it’s like to see this mother year after year sitting alone on the beach in the same place, staring at the sea and crying? Because I know …

And even if it is true that most often such incidents occur due to the irresponsibility of parents, all this malice and hatred certainly does not help them survive this pain … For commentators, it’s just a waste of 5 seconds of their day. For parents, these words remain for a lifetime and can be disastrous …

Some blame the state … Even if it is true that the provisions for water rescue are ridiculous in their main part, as long as we do not have an instinct for self-preservation and someone else is to blame, such incidents will not be uncommon … Because if you do not we are responsible for our own actions, then the easiest thing is to spit on everything and everyone, and it doesn’t make sense …

One human life is ruined and there is no going back …. The road is only forward with the hope that such stories will one day become valuable lessons for everyone – for parents, for rescuers, for institutions, and for commentators on Facebook. . “
