A conference organized at the Lycée Fulbert, in Chartres, to raise awareness of organ donation

Talk about it as soon as possible. This was the message delivered during the conference on organ donation organized on Friday, May 20, at the initiative of Natacha Gorka, professor of SVT [Sciences de la vie et de la terre], at Fulbert High School. “The idea is not to convince them, but to ensure that they position themselves in favor or not and, above all, that they are informed”, insists the teacher.

The 90 first year students in the SVT specialty were able to learn more about organ donation and discuss with the speakers of the day: Gaëlle Lavie, member of the organ and tissue sampling coordinating team at the Chartres hospital center, at Coudray, Didier Lagrange, president of the Association for the donation of organs and tissues of Eure-et-Loir, and Antoine Gouache, donor then recipient, came to tell his story to the students. “Talking about it doesn’t make you die, but it makes you think,” underlines Didier Lagrange.

“Each year, in the department, we manage to raise the awareness of around 5,000 people thanks to our interventions. »

An ethical dimension

In addition to evoking organ donation, the objective also lies in the social aspect of the subject, according to Natacha Gorka, who already addresses, in the first-class SVT program, the question of immunity. “This makes it possible to talk about the bioethics law and to make the link with other subjects, such as moral and civic education (EMC), but also philosophy. »
