In Russia, FSB Colonel Vadim Zimin, who was a bodyguard to Russian President Vladimir Putin and carried a so-called “nuclear briefcase,” was hospitalized with gunshot wounds to the head, the Mirror reported.
It is noted that he is currently in serious condition in the intensive care unit.
The British edition also reports that Zimin was found in his apartment in Krasnogorsk, Moscow region, on Monday, June 20, and next to him lay a traumatic pistol Izh 79-9TM. The FSB officer was found by his brother in a pool of blood. The victim’s wife was absent at the time.
It is known that Zimin did not work in the Kremlin only under Putin, but started his activity under Boris Yeltsin.
According to some reports, Zimin was under house arrest in connection with a criminal investigation into bribery after joining customs. He was also threatened with a sentence and imprisonment.
