A chilling testimony to Maradon’s death: He was left without help, the ambulance arrived in half an hour

Diego Maradona’s lawyer Matias Morla wants to have all the circumstances of Wednesday’s death of the Argentine football legend investigated.

In a statement on Twitter, he criticized the slow response of the rescue service, according to him, the ambulance arrived in more than half an hour.

“It’s inexplicable that none of those who were supposed to take care of him checked for 12 hours and no one paid him any attention,” Morla said on Twitter.

“It took the ambulance more than half an hour to arrive, which is a criminal idiocy,” he added, adding that he would not allow everything to be swept under the rug and would demand a full investigation.

According to preliminary autopsy results performed at San Fernando Hospital, Maradona died of heart failure.

The coroner stated that he contracted congestive cardiomyopathy, in which the heart compartments dilate and thus reduced the function of the ventricles. According to doctors, the failure was caused by acute pulmonary edema.

Maradona died less than a month after his 60th birthday, and at the beginning of November he also underwent acute surgery due to a blood clot in his brain. After being released from the hospital, he was to undergo rehab for alcohol dependence.

Maradon’s spokesman Sebastián Sanchi said that Maradon’s remains would be buried in the grave in a week on Thursday in the Jardín de Paz (Garden of Peace) cemetery in the suburbs of Buenos Aires, where his parents are also buried.
