The proceedings of the case began in the district court of Itä-Uusimaa on April 22. All in all, there are three defendants: a 28-year-old man, a 30-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man.

The prosecutor demands that all three be punished for aggravated robbery and payment instrument fraud. Both men were also charged with murder and firearms offences.

The police received information about the man lying in the cold station at four in the morning on January 1. The suspects were arrested on the same day. All of them were initially suspected of murder, but the woman in her thirties was already released from pretrial detention in mid-January.

They met in a restaurant

According to the prosecutor, the victim did not know the trio from before.

They had met at the Keisari restaurant the night before January 1. The victim left the restaurant as a trio. According to the prosecutor, the intoxicated victim was lured into the car with alcohol.

The woman drove the group to the yard of the St1 cold storage station on Jokivarrentie. During the trip, the older of the men had demanded the victim fill up the car.

When the 33-year-old victim did not agree to refuel the car or hand over the PIN code of his bank card, the men started to fight with a handgun. According to the prosecutor, the trio robbed the victim with a handgun while threatening and using violence. According to the prosecutor, the robbery was at least partially planned.

According to the prosecutor, the older of the men, a man born in 1991, had taken a gun and shot at the victim once or twice with the intention of scaring the man.

After this, the younger of the men, the defendant born in 1995, had taken a gun and shot the victim, who was lying on the ground, 2-3 times. At the same time, according to the prosecutor, the men had hit and kicked the victim.

Left to die

After the violence, the trio drove away, leaving the victim to die in a cold storage.

They took the victim’s backpack and bank card with them, which they later used at another gas station.

The woman in her thirties drove the group first to relatives in Vantaa and from there to her apartment in Sipoo. The handgun was later found in the woman’s car.

The 33-year-old man’s immediate cause of death was a gunshot wound to the back and related internal organ injury.

Both men already have criminal records.

The prosecutor demands that all three be sentenced to unconditional prison terms.

In addition, the prosecutor demands that the older of the men be sentenced for the residual punishment to be executed in addition to the acts in question. The man was on parole at the time of the Sipoo incident.

The Itä-Uusimaa district court will give its verdict later.
