In view of the increasing number of corona cases, concern is growing in the state government. Today the cabinet decides the new warning levels and new aids for job security.

The red-black state government is again advising on the current corona situation this Tuesday. Last week, the state agreed on a traffic light system for districts with high numbers of infections together with municipalities and associations. These warning levels are now to be part of a regulation and are therefore legally binding.
Schwesig: Now give up in order to be able to celebrate Christmas
Concern is growing in the state government in view of the number of corona cases. Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) said the second wave was “massive”. The head of government appealed to everyone to further restrict contacts. “Better to do without more in November so that we can then all celebrate Christmas together in the families.”
The curfew applies from an incidence value of 50
Your cabinet today formally resolves measures that apply within a week from warning levels of 35 and 50 corona cases per 100,000 inhabitants. From the warning value of 50, a curfew takes effect after 11 p.m., alcohol can then no longer be sold publicly in petrol stations. A maximum of 15 people from two different households are allowed to meet in their own four walls. The districts can specifically take stricter measures, some like Vorpommern-Greifswald or Ludwigslust-Parchim have already done so. The question of what happens when the number of cases exceeds 100 per 100,000 inhabitants is open.
Opposition calls for greater involvement of the state parliament
The left opposition criticized that the country had lost the overview and the course. Now a lot is going over to the districts, because the “central office” is missing, so parliamentary group leader Simone Oldenburg. More test centers are now particularly important in order to quickly gain an overview of the pandemic situation. Oldenburg once again called for greater involvement from the state parliament. Parliament had to debate “fundamental issues” in the Corona regulations and it had to vote on them. This also makes it easier to avoid mistakes. AfD parliamentary group leader Nikolaus Kramer is for “more debate” in the state parliament. Kramer repeated that his group reject the corona measures and instead rely on the citizens’ self-responsibility.

The CDU is also calling for a stronger debate
Just like the opposition, CDU parliamentary group leader Torsten Renz wants parliament to play a stronger role. Renz said his parliamentary group had an expert hearing in the legal committee. The results would have to be awaited. It is clear, however, that a stronger debate could increase the acceptance of the measures in the population. The SPD was also skeptical. Group leader Thomas Krüger declared that they were “ready to talk”. However, the government must be able to react quickly to the pandemic.
Winter stabilization program aims to secure jobs
Because the Corona situation is making the economy more and more difficult, the state government will also decide on new aid. A so-called “winter stabilization program” is primarily intended to secure jobs. Economy Minister Harry Glawe (CDU) is planning around 130 million euros for this. The state wants to improve and supplement the promised federal aid. If a company’s sales have fallen by 30 percent or more due to Corona, there is a subsidy for personnel costs. This can amount to up to 1,000 euros per month per position. Companies that have to pay off a particularly large number of loans can also count on extra help.
The event industry also gets help
The event industry should also be given targeted help. 45 traditional markets can expect compensation payments in the event of corona-related cancellations. At larger music festivals, up to 95 percent of the material expenses are reimbursed. Organizers who invest in hygiene measures will be reimbursed a maximum of 75 percent of all costs. Culture and entertainment providers – including so-called small artists – get almost all expenses reimbursed for event cancellations due to the pandemic – more precisely: 95 percent. Glawe said it was a matter of “getting the domestic economy through the difficult times as best as possible”. In the past there has been repeated criticism that a lot of Corona aid is paid out as loans. Many companies are unable to cope with this debt burden. Corona loans should also be available again with the new program. Companies with fewer than 250 employees can apply.
