Tiger Eco was eight years old

River Rosenquist, who is cleaning the zoo, entered the restricted area after closing and stuck his hand behind the grating of the enclosure where the tiger named Eco lived.

In the US state of Florida, a Collier County sheriff’s deputy shot and killed a rare Malay tiger during an animal attack on a man near an enclosure after the Naples Zoo closed. About this the day before reported press service of the zoo.

“The deputy sheriff did everything he could in this situation. And, ultimately, he made the only possible decision – to save a person’s life,” the message says.

As stated in the statement, 26-year-old River Rosenquist, who is cleaning the zoo, entered the restricted area after closing and stuck his hand behind the bars of the enclosure, where the tiger named Eco lived. The beast grabbed his arm. The deputy district sheriff, who appeared at the scene, first tried to free the victim’s hand, but could not, after which he shot at the tiger.

The animal died from its injuries. The management decided to temporarily close the zoo in order to understand the reasons for the incident.

Eco was eight years old and enrolled at Naples Zoo in December 2019. Fewer than 200 Malay tigers live in the wild. In connection with the death of one of them, the zoo has created a special fund, all funds from which will be used to support the tiger population in Malaysia.

Recall that in the annexed Crimea a tiger bit off a finger on his hand to a one-year-old child… The incident took place at the Taigan Zoo. According to the investigation, the 22-year-old mother brought the child close to the cage with predatory animals, carrying him through the protective fence.
