Mumbai law enforcement has arrested a Bulgarian man who ran a credit card debit scheme at his hotel in India.

His name is Fergier Vensislav Donchor (probably wrong pronunciation and spelling of Ventsislav Donchov Fergiev), according to Indian media.

The 45-year-old Bulgarian was arrested at the Andheri Hotel on Sunday. He is one of the highest-ranking leaders in the scheme.

Authorities unveiled the scheme after a complaint from a local citizen on November 26th. He said that although he did not use his card, it lacked 6,680 rupees ($ 87), writes bg-voice.com.

As there were already several other such complaints in the same region, the police were convinced that it was a matter of skimming cards.

They carried out the thefts by placing skimming devices on ATMs and downloading card data. With this information they made copies of the cards and withdrew money from the accounts.

The police received accurate information that a foreigner was involved in the scheme and that he was staying at the Andheri Hotel. A police team broke into the room and arrested Fergier (Fergiev?). Two mobile phones and a laptop on which he made the cloned cards were seized.

According to police, 40-50 people have been affected by the criminal scheme.

The police confiscated the passport of the arrested Bulgarian and informed the Bulgarian embassy about the detention, as well as about the wanted compatriot.
