At the annual general meeting digital from the Mercure Hotel in Krefeld, representatives from 94 member municipalities approved the 2020 annual report and approved the actions of the board of directors and the presidium. Krefeld’s head of administration Meyer, as chairman of the AGFS, led through the program of the meeting. Christine Fuchs, CEO of AGFS, presented the activities and the direction of the municipal alliance for the coming year. The NRW Bicycle and Local Mobility Act, which is due to come into force on January 1, 2022, will be the main topic for the AGFS and its members in the coming year.
In addition to Krefeld, 34 other municipalities had applied for an extension of their membership in the current year. After a positive evaluation by the expert commission, they will all receive a certificate by post. Peter London from the Ministry of Transport praised the municipalities in a speech. In addition to Krefeld, these include the cities of Aachen, Bielefeld, Bonn, Brühl, Bünde, Coesfeld, Dormagen, Dortmund, Dülmen, Düsseldorf, Essen, Euskirchen, Gladbeck, Hamm, Herford, Herne, Herzogenrath, Ibbenbüren, Iserlohn, Kempen, Cologne, Leverkusen, Lohmar, Minden, Mülheim an der Ruhr, Münster, Pulheim, Soest, Troisdorf, Unna, Wesel, the Lippe district, the Viersen district and the Rhein-Erft district. The AGFS is one of the largest municipal networks and sees itself as a pioneer of modern mobility policy. 94 municipalities in North Rhine-Westphalia are currently working on the goals of the association.
