The Center for Disease Prevention and Control (SPDC) has received information from “E. Swan Laboratories ”for two samples with multiple mutations corresponding to the Covid-19 omicron, however, final approval will be provided by the National Reference Laboratory for Microbiology once the samples have been laboratory sequenced.

The SPC launched an epidemiological inquiry into the two cases this morning. It has been established that these are two people aged 30 to 49 who returned to Latvia on December 4 from a major international event in Halmstad, Sweden, on an AirBaltic flight “BT132” Copenhagen-Riga and passed the test at the airport.

As before, the SPKC has requested passenger lists for the flight in order to identify close contacts, informs the SPKC. At the same time, SPKC also urges other passengers on the flight to closely monitor their well-being and health. The epidemiological investigation is ongoing, with contacts being identified and home quarantine strictly recommended.
