Man in Austria dies while feeding his venomous snake

accident

Enns (dpa) – In Austria, a 23-year-old reptile friend was killed by his poisonous snake.

The police confirmed a report in the “Kronen Zeitung”. Then the young man wanted to feed a horned viper in his apartment in Enns. When he turned away for a moment, the Viper snapped shut and bit the back of his hand.

His partner and a visitor, who were in an adjoining room at the time, alerted the emergency doctor and locked the snake back in the terrarium. The 23-year-old was taken to the hospital, but the doctors were unable to save him.

The man did not have a permit for the snake, said a police spokeswoman. He was allowed to have two tiger pythons in his apartment. The authorities had the reptiles picked up.

Snake encounters on the toilet

A woman in Vienna had a far more harmless encounter with a snake. The 68-year-old saw a python about one meter long in her toilet, the police reported. She showed a photo of the snake to the officers who had been alerted. Experts from a city authority later caught the reptile. It is unclear where it came from.

It was only on Monday that an albino reticulated python one and a half meters long had bitten a 65-year-old man in Graz in the area of the genitals when he went to the toilet in the morning. The python had crawled over the pipe system from the neighboring apartment of a snake owner into the quiet place.

The neighbor has eleven snakes and is allowed to keep the animals even after the incident. However, the 24-year-old is being investigated for negligent bodily harm.
