ROMA, KOMPAS.com – A dog hailed as a hero after helping his owner survive for a week in the Italian Alps.
The man, is a 33 year old climber. He sustained injuries, including a broken ankle, while exploring a dangerous part of the Venzonassa Valley.
He was not found for a week, before his rescue was carried out on Thursday (18/2/2021). After that the man reportedly praised the puppy for helping him survive.
There are no specific details of what the dog actually did to keep its owner awaiting rescue.
But it seems that the mixed breed dog, named Ash, might at least help the owner keep his spirits up during the freezing nights.
Launch Newsweek, the unnamed man and Ash spent their time near the frozen river, which the man reportedly used for drinking.
Due to his injuries, the man was unable to continue his journey or gather large amounts of food. The special line he was on was unable to receive cell phone service.

The man’s girlfriend first reported he was missing after not returning from the hike on Monday (15/2/2021). Mountain rescue experts immediately searched for him and Ash in the area.
The story of survival in the wild was uploaded on Facebook on Thursday (18/2/2021), by Alpine Rescue and Speleological Friuli Venezia Giulia.
Although there are still not many details about the man’s condition, the post reports the results of the rescue.
“He’s thirsty and hungry,” it said when translated into English.
“The regional rescue team arrived shortly after landing technicians and the medical team who stabilized the man. The climber was then put into a depression bag and then loaded onto the helicopter with a meter crane. Meanwhile the dog returned with the rescue team aboard the Civil Protection helicopter.”

The comments on the post didn’t just praise the dog for staying with its injured owner throughout the gruesome experience. Netizen also share good wishes for the climber’s recovery.
Most people are amazed by the gruesome stories, which clearly depict the relationship between humans and dogs, even in torturous circumstances.
While the story is truly amazing, this is not the only time a pup has been praised for saving its owner’s life. Earlier this month, a German Shepherd appeared to have kept its owner conscious when the man suffered a stroke.
The dog not only consistently licked the man’s face, but the animal was even reported to be helping drag the employer to his cell phone on the other side of the room.
