Thousands are laid off in British Airways – E24

British Airways is laying off thousands of employees, including at management level, as a result of delays in people’s travel plans following the shutdown in the UK.

The airline confirmed on Thursday that employees who had been put into active work again after the government in London set May 17 as the start date for international travel, will now be laid off again.

The reason is that none of the countries on the government’s coronated list are popular holiday destinations. This means that travelers to so-called non-green countries, such as France, Spain and Italy, must spend ten days in home quarantine.

British Airways is asking the government to open up to international aviation as soon as possible and put low-risk countries such as the United States on the list of green countries.
