968 new infections in Switzerland

The BAG last reported fewer than 1,000 new cases on a weekday at the beginning of August.

A week ago, 1211 new coronavirus infections were reported within 24 hours. In addition, there were 4 new deaths and 31 hospital admissions.

For every 100,000 inhabitants, 166.02 laboratory-confirmed coronavirus infections were reported in the past two weeks. The reproduction number R, which indicates the average number of people infected by an infected person, was 0.83 around ten days ago.

The utilization of the intensive care units in the hospitals is currently 74.7 percent. 18.8 percent of the available beds are occupied by Covid 19 patients.

A total of 10,215,400 vaccine doses had been delivered to the cantons and Liechtenstein by Wednesday evening. This means that 10,627,627 doses were administered. 59.78 percent of the population are fully vaccinated. So far, 6,497,323 certificates have been issued for fully vaccinated people.

According to the BAG, 8226 people were in isolation and 5761 people were in quarantine due to the contact tracing.
