7 signs of high blood sugar in the body, hands, gums and eyes

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV High blood sugar (hyperglycemia) is a condition in which blood sugar is too high and can cause diabetes.

Diabetics can also have blood sugar levels that are too low, called low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).

The cause of increased sugar levels in the body is usually due to unhealthy lifestyle such as excessive consumption of sugar and flour, lack of exercise and stress.

Usually, to find out your blood sugar levels, you can take a blood sugar test (blood sugar) with certain instruments or at the nearest health service.

However, if your high blood sugar is getting worse, your body may show signs, especially in your feet, hands, and gums.

Quoting Everydayhealth, Friday (6/1/2023), here are the characteristics of high blood sugar in the body.

1. Frequent tingling in the feet and hands

Another sign of high blood sugar that the body often experiences is a tingling sensation due to nerve damage, also known as diabetic neuropathy.

This tingling or even numbness sensation often occurs in the hands and feet. Although neuropathy is more common in people who have had diabetes for a long time, it can occur in anyone with poorly controlled diabetes.

2. Wound does not dry quickly

According to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, someone with high blood sugar is characterized by sores that don’t dry out.

This is because high blood sugar causes nerve damage and affects circulation, especially in the lower and upper legs.

Even small wounds often don’t heal and even become large because there isn’t enough blood flow to the area.

3. Blurred vision
