6 Countries Return to Lockdown Due to the Delta Variant Corona Virus

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

A number of countries have again tightened restrictions on movement to regional lockdowns (lockdown) following the spread of the Delta varian variant corona virus which is more contagious.

Scientists fear that the faster-transmitting variant of the coronavirus could become the dominant strain of the coronavirus worldwide if it continues to spread widely.

World health experts are even worried that this new variant of the corona virus has spread further in developing countries with inadequate health and monitoring systems.

The Delta variant corona virus or SARS-CoV.2.B.1.617.2 is a mutation of the Covid-19 that has been endemic (SARS-CoV.2 B.1.617).

The World Health Organization (WHO) on May 31, 2021 included the Delta variant in the Variant of Concern (VOC) category. VOC consists of variants Alpha (B.1.1.7), Beta (B.1.351), Gamma (P.1) and the latest is Delta (B.1.617.2).

Australia

At least 10 million people in Australia are affected by the lockdown (lockdown) in four cities in order to reduce the spread of Covid-19 which has surged again in Kangaroo Country.

Brisbane is the last city in Australia to implement lockdown. The Queensland government has ordered residents in the state capital, Brisbane, to stay at home for three days starting Tuesday (29/6).

Before Brisbane and Perth, Sydney and Darwin had already implemented lockdown to reduce the spread of the Delta variant of the corona virus.

Today, Perth residents in western Australia are also starting to follow the rules lockdown for the next four days.

So far, Perth has detected three new cases of coronavirus in recent days. However, the local government took precautionary steps to anticipate the emergence of new clusters of Covid-19.

“We are aware of the current risk of Covid-19 and we are seeing from various other countries that the Delta variant is a new evil virus that cannot be tolerated any longer,” said Western Australian Premier Mark McGowan.

Bangladesh

Bangladesh plans to implement lockdown tight starting this week after the spike positivity rate reach 20 percent.

On Monday (28/6), Bangladesh recorded the highest number of Covid-19 deaths, reaching 104 cases in a day.

Bangladesh’s Secretary of State Khandker Anwarul Islam said the military would be deployed from Thursday this week to help enforce the law lockdown.

“Armed forces will be deployed for patrols. If any citizens disobey orders, punishment will be imposed on them,” Islam said on Monday as reported The Guardian.

Islam added lockdown which will last for a week can be extended if conditions are not conducive.
