50 residents evacuated after fire in apartment building in Le … (Ghent)

Last night, a fire broke out in an apartment building in Ledeberg near Ghent. About fifty people have to be evacuated. The fire was quickly under control. That reports the public prosecutor of East Flanders.

The fire started around midnight in a material shed of an apartment building with about 30 homes on the Centrumplein in the Ghent sub-municipality of Ledeberg. According to the Ghent fire brigade, about 50 people were evacuated due to the heavy smoke development.

The fire brigade quickly got the fire under control and all residents were able to return to their homes that same night. Nobody was hurt. The public prosecutor’s office appointed a fire expert. According to the expert, the fire was caused by human intervention, whether deliberate or not.
