The National Security Council (CNS), which brings together the Prime Minister, the ministers-presidents of the federated entities, the competent ministers as well as experts, will decide this Wednesday, May 13 on many points concerning phase 2 of the plan of progressive deconfinement which will be implemented from this Monday, May 18. The following phases could also be refined and specified.
What will we talk about there? The resumption of classes in schools, conditions for reopening professions with physical contact (hairdressers, tattoo artists, etc.), the reopening of markets, museums, libraries (or even zoos?) And the expansion of the number of people present at weddings and funerals. Other subjects could also be on the table. The CNS will have to validate these “restarts” and lay down the conditions.
As a reminder, in order to fight the global pandemic of the Covid-19 coronavirus, Belgium entered strict confinement on March 18. The first phase of deconfinement – known as 1A – had started on Monday, May 4, with in particular the revival of activity in the economic sectors and the implementation of mass screening and tracing of contaminated people. The next phase, known as 1B, started on Sunday May 10 with an expansion of social contacts and then continued on Monday May 11 with in particular the reopening of most stores.
