3 Worst Korean Cars You Should Avoid: Daewoo Matiz, SsangYong Rodius, and Hyundai Accent

The authority of the South Korean automobile industry is much higher than that of manufacturers from India. In recent years, the Koreans have made significant strides, gaining a reputation for producing reliable and innovative vehicles.

However, not every model can become a “shining pearl of innovation.” Korean consumers themselves write on the Internet that specific models of the Korean automobile industry do not meet the requirements in various aspects, which causes dissatisfaction among owners and affects sales figures, writes Avtosota.

For example, the publication cites three models that are still considered “far from ideal.”

Daewoo Matiz

Known for its compact size and budget appeal, the Daewoo Matiz unfortunately fails to impress when it comes to performance and comfort. Measuring approximately 350cm long, 150cm wide and 150cm high, the Matiz offers limited interior space, making it cramped for passengers and their cargo.

The underpowered engine, which averages around 65 horsepower, contributes to its sluggish acceleration, sprinting to 60 mph in 16 seconds like a frustrating pedestrian. Owner reviews on various automotive forums constantly highlight the Matiz’s problems with overtaking on the highway and its poor behavior on slopes.

In addition, fuel consumption is not the Matiz’s strong point; it consumes approximately 6-7 liters per 100 km. This lackluster fuel economy doesn’t make up for its lackluster, disappointing power for drivers looking for both performance and economy.

The Matiz’s sales figures have declined in recent years and its popularity has waned as consumers opt for the more spacious and dynamic variants available in the market.

SsangYong Rodius

The SsangYong Rodius, an MPV, was designed for large families but unfortunately fails to meet these requirements due to its polarizing and awkward design. Its impressive dimensions, approximately 515 cm in length, 190 cm in width and 185 cm in height, offer ample space for passengers and cargo. However, its design was often criticized as being idiosyncratic and unattractive.

While the Rodius offers decent power with engines ranging from 155 to 178 horsepower, its acceleration remains unimpressive, with 0 to 100 km/h in around 12 seconds. However, in reviews, owners often complain about the cars’ handling, as their bulky frame makes it difficult to maneuver in tight spaces.

Hyundai Accent

The Hyundai Accent, while a popular choice in the subcompact segment, falls short in terms of refinement and technology. Measuring around 430cm in length, 170cm in width and 145cm in height, the Accent offers decent interior space but lacks the refinement and modern features found in its rivals.

With power ranging from 120 to 130 horsepower, the Accent delivers moderate acceleration, reaching 0-100 km/h in about 10 seconds. However, it lacks infotainment technology and driver assistance systems, which is a significant issue that owners have been highlighting on various forums.

Previously, FACTS wrote that even “promoted brands” there are models that can mislead the future ownerwho decides to buy a car without knowing about its pitfalls.
