unit staff

Personnel from the 20th represented the Aragón I Brigade in the ‘XXII Tui-Santiago Patrol Contest’, organized by the VII ‘Galicia’ Brigade in Pontevedra on June 28 and 29.

The test has two modalities: one ‘Azor’ (by relay) and another ‘Compostela’. The latter is the one in which our staff has competed, being the most demanding. It consists of making the route that leads from Tui to Santiago through the Portuguese Camino de Santiago. A total of 120 km carrying the regulated equipment (7kg backpack and weapons) and carrying out various tests in between. The tests are a topographic tour, grenade throwing, precision shooting with a long weapon, a timed section, crossing the application track and crossing the Lerez river with the team. All this, without exceeding 30 hours.

This competition has a great national and international acceptance. A total of 34 patrols have participated in this edition, highlighting one from the Northern Third of the Navy (winner of the Compostela modality), another belonging to the 68 Régiment d’Artillerie d’Afrique (of the French land army), another from the Royal Yorkshire Regiment (from the British land army) and another from the Intervençâo Brigade (from the Portuguese land army). Despite the heat that has prevailed this year, the solid military values of the team members and their excellent physical training have been the fundamental pillars to successfully pass the test, becoming a magnificent example for all their teammates to follow.
