2020 ELECTIONS – Fuerza del Pueblo ensures JCE does not yet credit its delegates

The Force of the People (FP) party accused the president of the Central Electoral Board (JCE), Julio César Castaños Guzmán, of preventing the accreditations of the political delegates of that organization in the Municipal Electoral Boards.

“The JCE and its president have given verbal instructions to the Municipal Electoral Boards so that they do not accredit the FP delegates,” denounced the political delegate of the organization, Manuel Crespo through a press document.

Crespo said that with this provision, the president of the JCE violates article 150 of the organic law of the Electoral Regime of the Dominican Republic, number 15-19, which establishes that political parties have the right to appoint their delegates to the JCE and the Municipal Electoral Boards.

The political leader said that for these accreditations they have been facing problems since January, claiming that the Municipal Boards had to receive instructions from a high commission.

“As a result of that, on February 4 our party deposited an instance attaching all the delegates to the Municipal Electoral Boards, and today, barely missing a few hours to hold the elections we have received information and complaints from more than 50 places at the national level, who have not wanted to accredit FP delegates, ”Crespo explained.

Manuel Crespo blamed the president of the JCE for violating the Electoral Law and the Constitution of the Republic, refusing a legitimate right that all organizations have to accredit their delegates in the Municipal Electoral Boards.

The political delegate of the FP urged the president of the JCE to send a general written instruction to all the Electoral Boards of each of the municipalities of the country, so that the fragrant violation of the Electoral Law will cease in the coming hours.

“We are summoning the president of the JCE, Dr. Julio César Castaños Guzmán, so that in the next few hours this violation of the Electoral Law will result in order not to disturb the good development of the electoral process,” says the document.

Voting for municipal elections will open at 7:00 in the morning and delegates must be one hour earlier in the polling stations.
