1st Student Conference: Unique meeting of 2,000 students - 2024-04-15 03:40:24

What might a bioclimatic kindergarten, “Gioconda’s Smile”, a student-teacher survey on adolescent sexual health, light pollution and some Arvanite brides have in common?

All these and many (too many) others “met” for three days, (May 12-14), at Model Music School of Pallini. The 1st Student Conference of the Directorate of Secondary Education of Eastern Attica was held there, in which 183 original papers were presented by 2,000 delegates representing 178 educational units, 40,912 students and 5,013 teachers.

Great celebration of science and culture

It is a great “festival of science and culture”, as described by the director of the Directorate of Anat. Attica Andreas Marinos, declaring the opening of the first day of the Conference. And, as the Minister of Education Kyriakos Pierrakakis said in his intervention: “This conference is Education as we want it”.

The mosaics of the unique meeting of 2,000 students

Lectures (simultaneously presented in 3 rooms), musical and theatrical performances (accompanied by informative tasks), constructions (robotic and not only), exhibition of a faithful replica of the Antikythera Mechanism with informative posters, a weather balloon that gathers meteorological data and the records in Andruino robotic mechanism, driving simulators in dangerous conditions with the aim of reducing traffic accidents by I.O.S. “Panos Mylonas”, broadcasts from 3 student radio stations which cover the Conference with interviews and dance groups (during the break) are the mosaics of a unique meeting of 2,000 students. Beside them, their teachers who helped and inspired them.

It is heartwarming to see all these children presenting their work, expressing their views, applauding each other and applauding the efforts of other groups and schools, sharing ideas and inspiring others with their ambition and creativity, to they feel that their voices are heard and that their contribution is important.
