Capaccio Paestum, new burial niches and ossuaries at the cemetery

The municipal council of the municipality of Capaccio Paestum gave the green light to the executive project for the modernization and expansion works of cemetery infrastructure within the municipal cemetery. Are expected 944 cells and 686 ossuary niches. The expected expenditure is approximately 2.3 million euros. The intervention is financed with the Municipality’s own funds.

The sum will then come from the proceeds resulting from the balances due for the twenty-year concessions of the niches and fifty-year concessions of the ossuary niches. In particular, it concerns 888 front niches which have a price of 1,800 euros; 56 laterals with a cost of 1,950 euros. The ossuaries on the other hand cost from 550 to 900 euros.

It was highlighted “the need to carry out the intervention to deal with the lack of both burial niches to bury the bodies of the deceased members of the requesting family members, in any case integrating the small number of earthen graves available, and of ossuary niches in which to preserve the mortal remains following of scheduled exhumations and exhumations, as a consequence of the dramatic increase in deaths that has been recorded in recent years”.

There is also a plan to implement a council provision from November 2019 which expressed the Administration’s desire to carry out an intervention for the construction of a new church at the civic cemetery, as the existing one is no longer suitable on site for decades but with minimal capacity. Action conceived as a consequence of the expansion of the original cemetery, which occurred in various eras with the part of the modern cemetery and the new cemetery.
