11 flights arrive from Florida to the Island, despite drastic rise in infections by COVID-19

This Friday, June 26, 11 flights would be arriving in Puerto Rico from the state of the Florida – Where not only a large part of the Puerto Rican population lives in the United States, but where high records have been recorded in the past few days in cases confirmed with COVID-19.

In total, seven of the 11 flights from the state were from Orlando while two were from Tampa and another two from Fort Lauderdale.

This occurs just when 8,942 positive cases of COVID-19 were confirmed this morning in the state by officials from the Florida Governor’s administration, Ron DeSantis. This figure adds to the 122,960 cases and 3,400 deaths recorded at the time.

In Florida alone, about 1.1 million Puerto Ricans reside, according to the United States Census. They are the second largest Hispanic group in the state, closely followed by Cuban-Americans.
