This Friday, June 26, 11 flights would be arriving in Puerto Rico from the state of the Florida – Where not only a large part of the Puerto Rican population lives in the United States, but where high records have been recorded in the past few days in cases confirmed with COVID-19.
In total, seven of the 11 flights from the state were from Orlando while two were from Tampa and another two from Fort Lauderdale.
This occurs just when 8,942 positive cases of COVID-19 were confirmed this morning in the state by officials from the Florida Governor’s administration, Ron DeSantis. This figure adds to the 122,960 cases and 3,400 deaths recorded at the time.
In Florida alone, about 1.1 million Puerto Ricans reside, according to the United States Census. They are the second largest Hispanic group in the state, closely followed by Cuban-Americans.

However, not only flights from Florida will arrive on the island, but from the state of New Jersey. And it is that this Friday afternoon four flights will land from different airlines in the state on the Island.
In New Jersey44 deaths were reported this Friday. This is in addition to the 13,060 confirmed deaths related to the COVID-19. So far, the state has about 170,000 confirmed cases with about 1,854 that have not been confirmed like the rest.
The United States Census also revealed that in 2014 New Jersey was the third state with the most Puerto Ricans with about 5.2% of the state’s total population. This figure was reached after the percentage of Puerto Ricans was only 4.4% in 2000.
Meanwhile, in Puerto Rico, this morning the Health Department added four infections to the number of infections and 22 to the additional probable cases. So far, the number of confirmed and probable deaths remains at 94.
