The perpetrator then recorded a video claiming to have killed the Hindu man. The Hindu man took to social media posts to support former BJP spokesman Nupur Sharma who insulted the Prophet Muhammad.
Tensions flared in Udaipur after the killings in broad daylight. Demonstrators took to the streets to protest the violence, prompting authorities to impose a curfew on seven areas of the city’s police stations.

As anger over the incident spread, a prohibition order under Article 144 CrPC was implemented across Rajasthan on Tuesday (28/6/2022).
The Union Interior Ministry has sent a team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to Udaipur to investigate the incident.
