1 for 12 pays a year of care and shelter for a 68-year-old woman

The 1 voor 12 Foundation has taken on the care and reception of the 68-year-old Parbatia Sahadew for a year. The foundation has taken note of the many reactions from society regarding the situation of women. Reason enough for the foundation to keep society informed about its situation. The chairman of Stichting 1 voor 12, Louis Vismale, is in Nickerie to visit the woman in the Mungra Medical Center (MMC).

Sahadew was found by Vismale under inhumane conditions in a house in the Saramacca district. She was so neglected that she was unable to walk, but crawled. Without utilities she lived with bats. Vismale did not hesitate and immediately sought help from the government. Due to the long procedure, he went to visit himself and took place for Sahadew in retirement home Rust en Werk in Nickerie.

Vismale immediately transported the elderly woman to Nickerie. She had probably not eaten for days and had not been bathed and was taken to the MMC for a medical check-up, where she was immediately admitted. Vismale indicates that Sahadew is now much better.

Due to medical complications, she has to be in hospital for at least another week. He immediately arranged for Sahadew’s shelter and care in the retirement home as well as a death insurance with funeral care company ‘Laatste Groet Akhri Bidaai’. He is grateful to the donors who made this possible.

The 68-year-old woman, who had nothing at home, was provided with clean clothes and care products on the day of departure to Nickerie. Foundation 1 voor 12 received a report from a local resident about the appalling situation of the lady. Further investigation shows that Sahadew has been rejected by her family and children.

Vismale was told by one of the children that the woman would have lived a bad life. However, he made it clear that no matter how badly someone has lived or what the person has done, that every person has the right to a good existence.
