1. Who drove up to two 17-year-olds and fled? – Hanau

(as) This is what the officers of the traffic accident escape group ask themselves and are looking for witnesses in this connection. A previously unknown driver of a silver-gray Opel Corsa drove on Lautenschlägerstrasse on Monday evening and then turned into the street “Am Ballplatz”. Two 17-year-old pedestrians crossed the street “Am Ballplatz” at around 6 pm. During the turning process, the driver overlooked the two girls who were already in the middle of the road. There was a clash, fortunately both women were “only” slightly injured. The driver then fled without taking care of the injured and thus without fulfilling his obligations as a party involved in the accident. The traffic accident escape group has started the investigation and asks witnesses who can provide relevant information to call 06183 91155-0.

2. (aa) We ask for attention to the press release of our current head of the youth traffic school, Stefanie Szigat:

Use of school guides to increase the safety on the way to school at the Lindenau School in Hanau-Großauheim.

Starting today, student guides at the Lindenau School in Hanau-Großauheim will ensure more safety on the daily way to school for the students. At the beginning of the school year, enough volunteers could be found who will take on this responsible service. The Lindenau School is currently the second school in the entire Main-Kinzig district that uses student guides to secure the way to school.

According to surveys by the German Road Safety Council (DVR), there have been no accidents worth mentioning at crossing points secured by school guides anywhere in Germany since the start of the use of school guides in 1953.

Before the new pilots could be deployed, they had to go through the prescribed training program at the youth traffic school of the police headquarters in Southeast Hesse. Among other things, they were instructed in the relevant legal provisions, calculating the stopping distance of vehicles, the rights and obligations of a student pilot, as well as developing a predictive sense of traffic. Practical instruction in the various phases of a piloting process took place at the pedestrian crossing in Rue de Conflans, directly in front of the school, as well as at the traffic lights in Neuwirtshäuser Strasse at the corner of Rue de Conflans. This is also where the volunteer road workers will be deployed in the future. Finally, all prospective student guides also had to take a written exam.

Student guides must be at least 13 years old and have a suitable character. Furthermore, the basic requirement is the voluntary nature of the activity as a student guide. Since the pupils are not yet of legal age, a declaration of consent from the legal guardian must be available. School pilots, or traffic assistants in official German, are automatically insured against accidents by the Unfallkasse Hessen. The traffic watch, in cooperation with the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), is responsible for equipping the building with a trowel and safety clothing.

A school route safety service, which could also be carried out by adult traffic assistants (parent guides), can be set up in agreement with the school management, the road traffic authority, the police and the local traffic watch. Further information and assistance in setting up a school route safety service can be obtained from the acting head of Police Commissioner Stefanie Szigat of the Traffic Safety / Special Services Directorate – Traffic Inspectorate Youth Traffic School – by phone 069 8098-5640 or by email: [email protected].

3. Damage to property through graffiti – witnesses wanted! – Erlensee

(js) On Sunday evening, between 6.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m., strangers carried out damage to property through graffiti in various streets in Erlensee. For this purpose, different lettering and graffiti were applied to building facades, fence elements, traffic signs, bus stops, power boxes, showcases and construction site barriers using different spray paints and black marker pen. In addition, the bronze water buffalo monument in front of the Erlensee town hall was defaced with smears of paint. This is probably also the local beginning of the graffiti series, which then continued on Langendiebacher Straße, Auf dem Hessel, In den Reußergärten, Auf der Beune, towards the old town of Erlensee, with a provisional ending at Uferstraße / Kirchstraße. A witness who heard the spray noise around 7 p.m. and looked out the window was able to provide the following descriptions of the perpetrators. One of the perpetrators is around 18 years old and 1.65 meters tall, somewhat sturdier, and had worn a hat and a dark mask on his mouth. The other two perpetrators are also around 18 years old, 1.75 to 1.80 meters tall, slim, dark nose covering, and wore hats. The damage to property is around 10,000 euros. 4. Burglars were after sports shoes – Gründau / Lieblos

(jm) A sports shop on Rudolf-Walther-Straße was the target of unknown burglars between Saturday evening and Monday morning.
