Bad Bevensen / Wrestedt – False police officers cheat senior women ++ Police warn of scam: “Talk to your relatives about these topics!” ++

!! Be suspicious

!! Talk to your relatives – bring in someone you trust.

The police in the region are currently warning of so-called “false police officers” and other fraudsters on the phone. After various calls in the past weeks and months, two senior citizens in the district of Uelzen were victims of the scam on the afternoon of November 7th. The 72- and 89-year-olds had initially contacted strangers on their landline phone. The callers pretended to be criminal police officers. They then said that a gang had been caught in the neighborhood, which would be considered for break-ins and assaults. In order to avert further damage, you now have to block the EC card and also need the associated PIN for this. In one case, the EC card should be deposited in the mailbox, in the other case under the doormat. A currently unknown picker then came to the residential address of the senior citizens called and picked up the card. The PIN should either be added or was requested by telephone after collection. Both senior citizens became suspicious after collecting the debit card and turned to the police. According to the current state of the investigation, there has been no financial damage. The cards were blocked as quickly as possible with the help of the local police.

The police in Uelzen, Tel. 0581-930-0, receive information.

The central emergency number for credit and debit cards is: +49 116 116 If you lose your card, you can call it at any time.
