On Tuesday evening, around 9 p.m., a 57-year-old cyclist from Switzerland drove the federal road 315 from Bonndorf towards Lenzkirch. Shortly after the circle boundary, according to previous knowledge, he lost control of his machine in a left-hand bend and collided head-on with the crash barrier in the corner exit area. He was then hurled over the plank and fell about 20 meters down a slope. The bike driver suffered life-threatening injuries.
After first aid by an emergency doctor and subsequent rescue by the local mountain rescue service, he was flown to a Swiss hospital by rescue helicopter for further treatment. The Bonndorf volunteer fire service also provided support at the scene of the accident.
The federal road 315 had to be completely blocked for 1 hour for the duration of the recovery and supply.
The Titisee-Neustadt police station has taken over the investigation. People who can provide information on the course of the accident are asked to report by phone 07651-93360.
