A 45-year-old truck driver drove his articulated lorry on Monday at 7:10 p.m. on Kölner Strasse in the direction of Gevelsberg. According to previous knowledge, he came off the road to the right at the Heilenbecker Straße stop and collided with the Fiat Punto of a 20-year-old Schwelmer waiting in the bus lane. The inmates of the Fiat, the 20-year-old driver and a 22-year-old Ennepetal woman, were both seriously injured by the force of the collision. They were taken to a hospital in an ambulance. When the accident was recorded, it became apparent that the 45-year-old driver of the truck was heavily intoxicated. He was taken to the police station for a blood sample. Whether the driver is in possession of a valid driver’s license could not be conclusively clarified; this is also part of the investigation.
