Even today, emergency services from Mönchengladbach support the emergency response as a result of “Storm Bernd” in regional operations.

Workers from Mönchengladbach are currently deployed in the town of Wassenberg in the Birgelen district. Already last night, helpers from the aid organizations ASB and JUH took over the catering for the emergency services. Today the forces were replaced by helpers from the DRK.

In addition, two boats and filled sandbags were made available for the Wassenberg fire brigade. For this purpose, around 700 sandbags that were not needed on the Niers and around 500 sandbags from the technology and logistics center were transported to Birgelen in emergency vehicles. Additional sandbags are currently being filled by the volunteer fire brigade on one of the NEW premises and also brought to the place of use. The sacks are mainly used to protect a transformer station, on which the power supply of many households depends.

The fire protection readiness 3 of the district of Düsseldorf was requested today for the operation in Wuppertal on Saturday morning. This fire protection readiness is made up of forces from the fire brigades Krefeld, Viersen and Mönchengladbach. Preparations for this mission are currently underway.

The aid organizations ASB, JUH and DRK, the Broich, Woof, Beckrath and Wanlo units of the volunteer fire brigade, a roll-off container trough from the technology and logistics center, a logistics truck, a roll-off container boat and the fire department’s command service are or were in action Mönchengladbach.

The units of Giesenkirchen, Rheindahlen and the IuK group of the volunteer fire brigade, an energy module from the technology and logistics center, a logistics equipment trolley from the aid organizations ASB and JUH and a management unit from the Mönchengladbach fire brigade are available for use with District Standby 3.
