(CNN) – Zac Efron says he “recovered” after getting sick while filming a survival reality show in Papua New Guinea.
The American actor confirmed on Twitter and Instagram on Monday that he reported that he had received medical treatment after a health problem.
“Very grateful to everyone who contacted me,” he told his followers. “I got sick in Papua New Guinea, but I recovered quickly and finished an incredible 3 weeks in P.N.G.”
The 32-year-old star, who rose to fame playing Troy Bolton in the franchise of High School MusicalHe also took the opportunity to thank fans for his messages of support, adding that he was now at home with his loved ones after spending time in the Pacific nation.
Efron added: “I am home for the holidays with my friends and family. Thank you for all the love and worry, see you in 2020! ”
The publication was accompanied by a photo of him with locals in Papua New Guinea.
CNN has contacted Efron representatives for further comments.
“Killing Zac Efron” will be a series of expeditions that will show the screen star venturing “deep into the jungles of a remote and dangerous island” for 21 days with nothing but basic equipment and a local guide.
Efron said the series, which was commissioned by Quibi, a new transmission platform scheduled to launch in April, would challenge it.
“I tend to thrive in extreme circumstances and look for opportunities that challenge me at all levels,” Efron told Variety in November. “I am excited to explore any unknown territory and discover what unexpected adventure awaits me!”
