On the TV show Friday Night SmackDown, the 26-year-old was the guest of honor at a “world premiere” trailer screening of a pseudo-documentary by wrestler Sami Zayn.

Zayn hoped for praise from Paul, who instead pushed around that Zayn had definitely tried very hard and “put a lot into the trailer” – and then explained that he had spoken to Zayn’s WrestleMania opponent Kevin Owens, who believed that he would have known Zayn for a long time and unfortunately he was a bit neurotic and delusional.
The visibly desperate attempt to convince Paul otherwise was interrupted by Owens, who gave Zayn his special action, the Stunner, in front of Paul’s eyes and threatened to bring him back to reality at WrestleMania.
Zayn later retaliated with an attack when Owens gave an interview in the backstage area.
Edge explains his freak out
The structure of the WrestleMania main fight between Universal Champion Roman Reigns, Royal Rumble winner Edge and Daniel Bryan was also pushed forward with several segments: At the beginning of the show, Edge spoke up and explained his freak last week, in which he wasn’t just Reigns , but also attacked Bryan, who, in his opinion, had been undeservedly given his place in the title match.
Edge explained that Bryan’s return after his dramatic, injury-related career end was an inspiration for his own comeback, but that he would now have opened Pandora’s box with his supposed manipulations with which he would have maneuvered himself into the match – and must bear the consequences (Daniel Bryan openly and honestly in the SPORT1 interview: This is wrong at WWE).
He added that he had to be grateful to Bryan in a way: After his freaking out last week, he would have looked in the mirror and seen the old “Rated-R Superstar” again. He is what Reigns and Bryan have yet to become: a legend. And next time he will not hesitate to smash Reigns and Bryan in the skull with his “Conchairto”.

Bryan played the main event of SmackDown, a street fight against Reigns’ nephew Jey Uso, at which Edge was present as a guest commentator and which Reigns also watched up close.
Bryan defeated Uso and then took the opportunity to attack the two rivals: He caught Edge with the running knee and took Reigns into the Yes Lock, with which he had already given him up at Fastlane, but had been cheated of the win. The show ended with Bryan partying while Edge and Reigns doubled over in pain.
The other highlights:
– SmackDown Tag Team Champions Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode teamed up with Otis and Chad Gable against Street Profits and Dominik and Rey Mysterio in the opening match. Otis won with a splash against Montez Ford, next week all four teams will compete against each other for the title.
– Seth Rollins and the Swiss Cesaro fought a speech duel before their WrestleMania match, in which one of the topics was that Rollins has already accumulated many great WrestleMania moments, while Cesaro has not even had a single match on the “Grandest Stage of them” all “had. Cesaro stated that he knew his career had gaps – but that he would now fill one of them at Rollins’ expense (Why WWE colleague Natalya sees Cesaro as the new Bret Hart).
– Natalya celebrated a surprise victory over Shayna Baszler with a quick small package – whereupon chaos broke out: Baszler and partner Nia Jax attacked Natalya and Tamina, whereupon the Riott Squad as well as Mandy Rose and Dana Brooke as well as Lana and, who are actually at home on the Monday show RAW Naomi switched on. At WrestleMania, all the duos involved are likely to grab Baszler’s and Jax’s tag team titles.
– Royal Rumble winner Bianca Belair underscored her ambitions to take the women’s title from Sasha Banks at WrestleMania with a victory over Carmella – and then confronted the “boss” with self-confidence.
