YouTube seeks to create a short video mechanism like TikTok

Users will be able to record 15-second videos from the mobile application.

The most popular video platform on the planet, YouTube has started experimenting with a feature that will allow users to record 15-second content on their platform just like TikTok.

This new experimental feature launched by YouTube seeks to compete with the owned TikTok, a short video application that has achieved great popularity around the world since 2019.

YouTube invited its community to create 15-second content from its platform but from the mobile application, as reported by Fossbytes.

How to record short videos from the YouTube app

When we enter the application, the user will be able to observe a new option that will allow recording short videos under a procedure similar to that of TikTok: you must press and hold the record button to start the video and you must release it to stop it as many times as consider it necessary to complete the 15 seconds.

These minimal interruptions that are made will be combined into a single video so that it can be uploaded from the YouTube app without problems.

In case you want to upload a video with a longer duration, then the user must go to the phone gallery and upload it directly without the possibility of recording it from the app.

Until now it is not known if this function will be complemented by other effects such as sound effects, filters or some other special effect. This function is not currently available for everyone, because at the moment, there are few chosen to experiment.
