“You have to be patient even though the queue is long, the money is only enough to buy Pertalite”

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The increase in the price of Pertamax fuel oil (BBM) forced many residents to switch to the more affordable Pertalite type.

However, this makes the queue for Pertalite at public gas stations (SPBU) longer than usual.

Owners of motorized vehicles with mediocre pockets are forced to be patient in long queues in order to get fuel that does not burden their financial condition.

The impact of the increase in the price of Pertamax from Rp. 9,000 to Rp. 12,500 per liter was felt by motorcycle taxi drivers online in the Capital.

Supeno (53), an online motorcycle taxi driver, has been using Pertalite as fuel for his motorcycle for a long time.

However, after Pertamax price goes up as of April 1st, Supeno began to feel the impact. He always encountered long lines when he wanted to fill Pertalite at a number of gas stations in the capital.

“Even though I have to queue long, yes, I have to be patient because my income is only enough to buy Pertalite,” Supeno said when interviewed in the Kemang area, South Jakarta, Wednesday (6/4/2022), as reported by Kompas.id.

That afternoon, Supeno was sitting on the side of the road in the Kemang area while waiting for orders to come in on his cellphone. He left the house in the morning, he only got Rp. 23,000, not enough to fill up gas until full tank.

Supeno is not alone waiting for orders to come in. His colleague, Joko (47), was watching his smartphone screen while waiting for customers. It’s been about an hour he didn’t receive the order.

“It’s already difficult to find passengers, the price of gasoline and basic necessities has all gone up. I’m dizzy,” said Joko while lying on a colorful mat right in front of a beauty care house in the Kemang area.
